What is Pilates?







Pilates is a worldly recognised form of exercise that uses the mind and body to target deep postural muscles of the abdomen and spine. It is medically recognised in the prevention and rehabilitation of lower back pain. This is due to specific core activation of intrinsic lower back muscles, abdomen, diaphragm and pelvic floor muscles.

Pilates improves overall central core stability and posture. The mind and body are combined together to achieve the following eight sound principles:

Pilates will naturally be incorporated into Shereena’s treatment and prescription of daily exercises where she feels necessary.

One to One sessions provided:

This will ensure a tailor made exercise program is effectively prescribed and understood by you. The aim of these sessions is to target your specific weak areas and develop the strength to rehab your condition efficiently. Sufficient feedback and teaching will also be delivered in order for you to perform the exercises independently with confidence. One to one can also be prescribed as a personal training session.

Group sessions provided (max 4)

Small groups can consist of friends or family who prefer to train together. Groups can/may also consist of selective patients with similar conditions (upper back/lower back/core straining) who can focus on rehabilitation together to achieve similar goals. Cost for the hour can then be divided amongst the group.
